Our
Approach

At Dragonfly, we implement a Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP) framework to support young people, recognising the impact of adverse childhood experiences. TIP is a holistic, strengths-based approach that prioritises physical, psychological, and emotional safety, empowering individuals to regain control over their lives.

We combine TIP with the PACE model — Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy — to ensure a compassionate and trauma-sensitive environment. Our approach is especially crucial for unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people, who face unique challenges such as family separation, uncertain legal status, and trauma exposure.
We provide a stable, nurturing environment that prioritises their physical, emotional, and psychological needs. Building trust through empathetic communication and offering a holistic support model — including education, mental health services, legal advice, and social integration opportunities — helps these young people heal and rebuild their lives. Our culturally sensitive, child-centred approach empowers them to regain a sense of belonging and hope for the future.
